The Planned City Extension of Ningo-Prampram represents an unmatched opportunity to respond to unplanned urban sprawl of the capital and the whole region. Availability of land and international connectivity along the trans-national corridor, the international airport and access to the coastline make Ningo-Prampram a superb location for a planned city extension to provide adequate access to land, housing, economic activities and services for the growing population.
Head of Town and Country Planning, Ningo Prampram District Assembly, Ghana.
The draft Planned City Extension was presented to the Bosasso City Council in July 2016. “We as a council were an active part of the development of the Planned City Extension, and our comments and proposals were incorporated in the plans prepared by the UN-Habitat team. We will give full attention to protecting the proposed beachfront. The council will adopt a by-law ordering the neighbouring residents to be set away from the coastline by a minimum of 100 metres. Then we can develop recreational areas and playgrounds along the streets. Bosasso continues to grow very fast. We want to encourage community and stakeholder collaboration in development decisions of the plan
